TCCC Baseball Players of the Week (Apr. 26, 2010)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Curry College senior second baseman Tony Luciani (Weymouth, Mass.) batted .458 (12-for-24) with one double, one triple, two home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored in seven games to lift the Colonels to a 6-1 weekly record and the top seed in the upcoming TCCC Championship.  Luciani batted safely in seven games, including a four-game streak of consecutive multi-hit games.  He also drove in at least one run in each game and scored at least one run in six different contests.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK –  Wentworth Institute of Technology senior Chris Sandini (Upton, Mass.) tossed a six-hit complete-game shutout against eventual #5 seed Salve Regina, as the Leopards clinched the #4 seed in the upcoming TCCC Championship.  Sandini struck out 10 batters in seven innings of work and walked only three.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK – Salve Regina University junior Craig Silva (Marlborough, Mass.) picked up a win over Eastern Nazarene and a save against Gordon — two TCCC playoff teams — and struck out 12 batters over eight scoreless innings of work as the Seahawks wrapped up the #5 seed in the upcoming TCCC Championship.  Silva struck out 10 in a five-hit complete-game shutout over ENC, and fanned two batter in one inning of work against Gordon.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK –  Endicott College freshman outfielder Ralph Fidaleo (Fairfield, Conn.) batted .303 (1-for-33) with seven RBI in nine games played over the season’s final week.  He batted safely in seven games and came up especially big in the Gulls’ doubleheader split at Western New England on the final day of the regular season,  In that final twinbill, Fidealeo batted .556 (5-for-9) with three RBI.
