TCCC Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Jan. 18, 2010)

PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  In a three-game week, Wentworth Institute of Technology senior guard Michelle Fauci (Boxford, Mass.) contributed in virtually all phases of the game on a nightly basis, averaging 17.7 points, 3.7 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 7.3 steals as the Leopards posted a 2-1 record, including wins over TCCC rivals Eastern Nazarene and Roger Williams.  In a 71-46 victory over ENC, Fauci collected a career-high 23 points and added four rebounds, four assists and five steals.  She followed with 18 points, a career-high 12 steals, five rebounds and five assists in a tough 56-50 loss to Suffolk.  Fauci concluded her week with 12 points, six assists, five steals and two rebounds in a 58-57 triumph over Roger Williams.  Over the course of the week, Fauci shot 53% from the floor (21-of-40) and 73% from the line (8-of-11).

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK –  Western New England College freshman guard Emily Savino (Ellington, Conn.) averaged 24.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in victories over two TCCC opponents.  She opened the week with a strong 19-point, seven-rebound effort in a 59-52 victory over Roger Williams.  After sitting out a non-conference victory over Emerson due to an ankle injury, Savino returned to face Endicott.  She was expected to see limited action, but responded with a career-high 30 points in a thrilling 97-91 double-overtime win.  For the week, Savino shot 61% from the field (14-of-23) and 80% from the free-throw line (20-of-25).
