TCCC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week (Apr. 19, 2010)

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Curry College senior attacker Ashley Hansbury (Chelmsford, Mass.) tied an NCAA Division III record for points in a game with 16 (nine goals, seven assists) in a conference win over New England College to open up the week. Hansbury also collected eight draw controls, three ground balls, and a pair of caused turnovers in the 23-12 win over NEC. She scored four goals and notched an assist in a tough 10-9 loss to Southern Maine, and topped the 100 point mark on the year in a 15-6 win over TCCC foe Salve Regina as she scored six goals and added an assist in the contest. For the week, Hansbury totaled an impressive 28 points (19 goals, nine assists), 18 draw controls, nine ground balls, and five caused turnovers for the Colonels.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Curry College junior goalkeeper Maria Lynch (Billerica, Mass.) stopped a total of 46 shots in a 2-1 week for the Colonels, posting a goals against average of 9.02 with a 58% save percentage. Lynch made a career-high 16 saves in a 23-12 win over NEC, and followed up with 14 saves in a 10-9 loss to Southern Maine. In 53 minutes of action against Salve Regina, Lynch made 16 saves and allowed just four goals in a 15-6 victory.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – Western New England College freshman midfielder Megan Doyle (Putnam Valley, N.Y.) helped the Golden Bears to a 3-0 week in TCCC play by scoring 16 goals on 24 shots (70.8%). She began the week with four goals and an assist in a 23-15 win over Salve Regina, also contributing three ground balls and two draw controls in the contest. Doyle poured in five goals in a 20-10 win over Gordon, and notched seven goals in a 19-10 win at New England College.
