TCCC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week (Apr. 5, 2010)
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – University of New England junior midfielder/attacker Danielle Cate (Boscawen, N.H.) scored a school-record nine goals to open up the week with a 22-12 win over Salve Regina, she also recorded three draw controls, two ground balls, and an assist in the contest. Cate followed up with six goals, one ground ball, one draw control, and a caused turnover in a 15-10 win over Southern Maine.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK – New England College senior goalkeeper Alexandra DiRico (Limerick, Pa.) anchored the Pilgrim defense with a 6.00 goals against average in conference play, tallying 25 saves, nine ground balls, and seven caused turnovers over the week. DiRico made five saves, grabbed a pair of ground balls, and one caused turnover in a 15-4 win over Nichols. Her best performance came in a 10-8 win over Gordon, making 12 stops, causing five turnovers, and scooping up three ground balls. She then made eight saves with four ground balls in a 13-9 loss to MIT to close out the week.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – New England College freshman attacker Katie Palasz (Granby, Mass.) was the Pilgrims leading scorer in each of their three games on the week, netting four goals and one assist per contest in a 2-1 week which included a pair of TCCC wins. In addition to her 15 points on the week, Palasz also had six groundballs, two draw controls, and a caused turnover in a 15-4 win over conference foe Nichols. She had a draw control in a crucial 10-8 TCCC win over Gordon, and three ground balls, two draw controls, and two caused turnovers in a 13-9 loss to MIT.
