TCCC Women's Lacrosse Players of the Week (May 3, 2010)

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Roger Williams University junior midfielder Claire Halliday (Trenton, N.J.) led the Hawks to a 14-6 quarterfinal victory over Colby-Sawyer with five goals and an assist in the contest. Halliday opened up the week by notching a pair of goals and an assist in a crucial 8-7 win over WNEC that locked up the second seed in TCCC tournament play. Halliday also scooped up six ground balls, had six draw controls, and a pair of caused turnovers on the week.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK –  Western New England College junior defender Nicole Poli (Medfield, Mass.) played a crucial role in the Golden Bears 10-7 win over Curry in the quarterfinal round, holding TCCC Offensive Player of the Year Ashley Hansbury to just one shot in the contest. Poli had four ground balls and two caused turnovers against the Colonels. She also had six ground balls, three draw controls, and three caused turnovers in a tough 8-7 loss at Roger Williams to close out the regular season.

ROOKIE OF THE WEEK – University of New England freshman midfielder Cara Cole (Norwood, Mass.) scored three times and set-up two other goals as the Nor’easters started the second half with a 7-1 run to secure a 14-10 victory in their TCCC quarterfinal match-up with Gordon. Cole also had three ground balls and two draw controls in the contest.
